Game Informer announced this morning that Rocksteady is coming out with another Batman game, and way sooner than we were expecting. Batman: Arkham Knight is reportedly to be the final installment in the Arkham series. Whoever had the job to make this cinematic, good lord, give this animator, or team of animators, a freaking medal! The animation is smooth like the tubs of butter Paula Deen uses in one dish. So fattening, yet so delicious. Excuse us while we drool all over the internet.
Of course, the arrival of a new Batman game is not all Rocksteady has in store for us. In the trailer, you’ll notice the use of a certain iconic vehicle. That’s right, kiddies, we’re finally going to drive the Batmobile. Whew! Did anyone else get the chills just now?
The accompanying video explains that the game takes place a year after the events of Arkham City, where we got to explore a closed section of Gotham City over-run by the city’s criminals. “This is the natural end for the story, says game director Sefton Hill, “We really want to go out in style.” If the cinematic trailer is any indication of how serious they are, then we’re in for quite a ride.
According to Gamestop’s online listings, Batman: Arkham Knight is scheduled for release October 14, 2014 for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One. It’s not confirmed whether or not this will be the official release date, but it’s start!
